Desktop Locks Occurs at an Undesirable Distance

The countdown to lock the desktop starts when the Nymi Band is too far away from the Bluetooth Adapter or too close to the Bluetooth Adapter.

Cause

The rssi_cutoff_far parameter value requires adjustment.

Resolution

If a desktop lock occurs at a longer than desired distance between the Nymi Band and the Bluetooth Adapter, increase (specify a value closer to 0) the value of the rssi_cutoff_far parameter. If the desktop lock occurs at a shorter than desired distance between the Nymi Band and the Bluetooth Adapter, decrease (specify a value farther away from 0) the value of the rssi_cutoff_far parameter. .

  • On Windows and HP Thin Pro, edit the nbe.toml file.
    • For the Bluegiga Bluetooth adapter, modify the rssi_cutoff_far value in the [dongle.bluegiga] section.
    • For the BleuIO adapter, modify the rssi_cutoff_far value in the [dongle.bleuio] section.
    • Restart the Nymi Bluetooth Endpoint service.
  • On IGEL, in UMS, navigate to System > Firmware Customization > Custom Partition > Partition and increase (specify a value closer to 0) the RSSI_TAP_THRESHOLD value.
